There used to be an old farmer in the city of Cincinnati who had a farmland that he had planted several crops and it yielded great harvest for him but due to lack of facilities and adequate capital, he could not improve on the land so he had to abandon the land for awhile. Later, he decided to lease the land to an old friend of his not knowing what he had lost.
Moreover, his old friend of his decided to verify the kind of products that would keep the land productive and maintain the land. On the other hand, the man while working on the land, he found on the land a ground dug for well water that has not really been developed, so he called some laborers to develop the well water.
While working with them, they discovered the well is containing some measure of gold that has not been extracted while they are working. They informed the man and the man decided to keep it unknown from his friend.

However, an advertisement had earlier been made about two months ago publicly on the Television media to those who have gold and are willing to sell it for a lucrative amount. This became a big break for him. He decided to find out more about the advertisement and he eventually made a negotiation that was close to $10 billion but he disagreed and decided to lend some money to build a Gold company of his own that extracts gold domestically and sell to companies that are interested. Today, this farmer owns his own multi billion dollars company in United States and in other states of the country.

Dear reader, the above story shows the picture of how many of us have sold our talents, gifts and potentials unknowingly to others whose eyes are opened to great ideas that we are not paying attention to and we have lost hope on it. What could have brought us great wealth and we lost it without knowing…How miserable it is?
One of the most interesting things about human life is the possession of in born skills, natural talents and potentials. But potential do not grow except it is utilized over and over again. This is very important.
There is no other way to trim one’s lamp (your gifts, talents and potentials) to discovering it and releasing it productively. Discovering your gifts or talents is very important to human life as it brings you to the platform of great opportunities.
Your lamp is your talent, gifts and potentials because it is what we make a way for you. The world we are is a digital world that is characterized with the usage of one’s gifts in the marketplace and it demands a special expertise to fit in especially in an area of one’s gifting.
True riches come as a result of discovering what your natural abilities – gifts or talents and utilizing it to solving a problem where it is needed most. Tiger Woods was given a great opportunity while his father sent him to the informal school of sport to develop his interest and passion in his sporting talent and gift as a kid in Golf sport.
This, he maximized very effectively for so many years and today, history is the rest. He had won several awards and had become a household name in the world of Golf sport. There are host of others who are doing the same thing.
What will you use your gift for?
To what extent will your gift be reproduced?
Of all the things the Creator will ask from us, it is our gifts or talents and how we are able to use it and multiply it along with our daily activities. The most interesting thing about gifts or talent is that the more you use it the faster it grows and multiplies.
Also, it helps us to see the rest of the natural skills and gifts that we have but we have not utilized. It had been proved that every one of us has at least more than five to ten gifts which when it is well utilized, it multiplies into more. This was the dilemma of the third person that had just one talent according to Jesus’ parable. He buried the only gift he had for the sake of fear of his master.
